Estrada dos Romeiros - Cycling in São Paulo, BR

Let's talk about the Romeiros road, known and often preferred by cyclists from São Paulo.

It is a good option for those who want to cycle outside the city of São Paulo, as it is just 40 minutes from the city, starting in the city of Pirapora do Bom Jesus, passing through Cabreúva and ending at Portal de Itu.

The total route, and more traditional, can extend from 80km to 100km in distance. What will determine this will be the starting point.
Starting from the gas station at Km 48 on the Castello Branco Highway, the distance is 100km, with approximately 1,500m of elevation gain.
Starting from the municipal school of Pirapora, it is 80km, with approximately 800m of elevation gain.

Halfway along the way, in the city of Cabreúva, is the famous Empório UAI: a good point of support and refueling (don't forget to try the cheese bread stuffed with cheese from Serra da Canastra). Z2 point of sale too.

The stretch from Cabreúva to Itu has less elevation and a good view overlooking Rio.

It is worth remembering that the way back to Pirapora has more climbs than the way to Itu. Therefore, save your energy for the way back, especially for the climb known as Tira Saia.

This is the tip for you to plan your weekend ride in a place we love so much!
PS: the time from the traditional exit from the station to the portal (98km) is 2:34hrs (38km/h average) achieved by professional triathlete Santiago Ascencio. I hope to edit this soon ;)
